Community

The small-town feel of Oakville contributes to the overall atmosphere of community, inclusivity, and unity. The charming downtown core and locally-owned shops provide a small-town atmosphere which contrasts nicely with the hustle and bustle of neighbouring cities like Mississauga and Toronto. Rob Burton, the Mayor of Oakville, has said that “Oakville is a city that calls itself a town and acts like a village. Oakville as a community is determined to maintain that town vibe” (MacLeans).
