Roof and Gutters
It is very important to periodically check your roof for any sign of weakness regardless of the weather. If you have an older roof, it might be prone to loose or missing shingles which can become problematic if water seeps through.
While you are up there, be sure to make sure your gutters are not clogged and that any melting snow has a clear passage down through the gutters and downspouts.
Attic
If you are able to take a peek into your attic, look at any signs of dampness in the insulation, water on the floor, or any leaks. If not treated promptly, this can lead to moisture under and around attic vents and even mold growth.
Getting specialists in to treat water damage to your attic can cost anywhere from a few hundred to a couple thousand depending on the amount of damage. Checking regularly is a good preventative measure!
Windows and Doors
Give a thorough check around all your windows and doors to ensure that your home is properly insulated. Take note of any drafts! If a window is damaged during the snowstorm, that crack can lead to improper insulation of your house and will compromise your home’s energy efficiency.

Take a walk around your house to ensure that all entryways and surrounding areas are clear of any potential risks.
Large trees in close proximity to the house can pose a risk during storms. Not only is there a chance that weighed-down branches of snow can break off and cause damage to the exterior of the house but the entire tree itself can collapse on the house.
