Though the GTA had a late start to spring, warm weather and sunshine are finally here to stay! Get your spring cleaning gear out because it’s time to get your house ready for summer. Here are a few tips and tricks that will get your house in top shape for the season. These tips are great for homeowners who need to freshen up their existing home, and for homeowners who are looking to sell in the near future.
Rotate Your Closets
Now that snow, ice, and freezing temperatures are behind us, move your winter boots, jackets, and accessories into storage. Get rid of the bulk and clutter of winter clothing in exchange for rain boots, sandals, and light jackets. This will help ease you and your family into the new season, and it will also make your closet space much more accessible.
Start Slow
Spring cleaning can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be if you take it day-by-day. Dedicate each day to completing one task, even if it’s a small one such as dusting. Have an idea of how long each task will take, and put time away each day to complete one. By the end of one week, you’ll already have completed seven tasks, and chances are, the momentum of successfully completing something will push you to finish the rest!
Look at Your Schedule
As summer approaches, weekends are likely being booked up by events and vacations. Looking ahead at the summer will give you an idea of when your deadlines are. For example, if you know you are hosting a backyard barbeque in three weeks, plan to start cleaning up the backyard that week. Or if you know you’ll be away for two weeks in August, book some time beforehand to get the house in order. Planning ahead always pays off in the end.
Switch Out Your Bedding
Though we haven’t reached peak temperatures yet, we will soon. Switch out your cozy bedding and fluffy blankets for lighter materials. This will give each room a fresh, updated feel, and it will also decrease your need for AC at night.
